The Royal Government Spokesperson provided an update on the comprehensive care and support for displaced persons (evacuees), emphasizing the implementation of Prime Minister Hun Manet’s directive from January 10, 2026. According to the briefing, nearly 83% of the total 640,000+ displaced individuals have successfully returned home. For those who remain, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has identified new, studied areas to establish safer and better temporary shelters.
The government ensures that individuals residing in safety centers receive free essential services, including food, security, healthcare, sanitation, and temporary education. Furthermore, the report highlighted significant financial relief efforts: Microfinance institutions waived $10.6 million in interest for displaced families, restructured approximately $500 million in loans, and canceled $1 million in debt (principal and interest) for frontline soldiers, wounded personnel, and the families of fallen heroes.
