The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that within the framework of a comprehensive preemptive operation dubbed ‘Roaring Lion,’ they have eliminated 40 senior Iranian commanders. Among those eliminated is Abdolrahim Mousavi, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, who was targeted along with seven other top Iranian security leaders in Tehran. These strikes were guided by IDF intelligence.
The operation also saw the dismantling of the majority of aerial defense systems in western and central Iran, in an effort to establish aerial superiority over the skies of Tehran. According to the IDF, Mousavi was previously responsible for managing Iran’s security apparatus and oversaw the firing of hundreds of ballistic missiles launched toward Israeli territory, which killed Israeli civilians during previous operations. This operation marks a historic strike aimed at removing threats to the State of Israel.
