PHNOM PENH, February 12, 2026. Following observed fluctuations in ambient air quality, national environmental and health authorities, led by the Ministry of Environment (MoE), have formally disseminated a critical advisory focusing on safeguarding vulnerable populations, particularly young children, from potential health impacts associated with airborne particulates. This proactive measure reflects the government’s steadfast commitment to public health welfare.
The advisory emphasizes a multi-pronged preventative approach consistent with national obligations under sustainable development frameworks. Key recommendations include restricting strenuous outdoor activity during periods of elevated pollution and ensuring children remain indoors to minimize exposure. When outdoor exposure is unavoidable, the careful and correct use of appropriate respiratory protection (masks) is strongly advised. Furthermore, the importance of nutritional fortification is highlighted; parents are encouraged to bolster their children’s immune systems through diets rich in essential vitamins and nutrients.
This guidance underscores the critical necessity of informed civic participation. The MoE strongly encourages the public to utilize official, real-time air quality monitoring resources to ensure timely decision-making. These official platforms include the dedicated MoE website (https://airquality.moe.gov.kh), the Ministry of Environment Facebook page, and recognized mobile applications such as CGS SPA, providing accurate data on environmental conditions.
Continuous inter-ministerial coordination remains paramount to ensure the resilience of public health systems against evolving environmental challenges, thereby fostering a safer and healthier future environment for the nation’s youth, prioritizing their well-being in line with national development goals.
